Striking tools:

The striking tool is consists of a head with a handle, for used some carpentry and forging purposes.

Commonly striking tools come from hammers.


 Hammers:

    Hammer is a hand tool. It is used for only striking purposes, this hammers made up of commonly harden tool steel. Mainly this tool is used for bending, punching, shaping e.t.c.

 Main parts of hammer

  Face.

  Peen

 Eye hole.

 Handle

 

 Face: 

this is the main part of the hammer, it is the striking portion of the hammer that is hardened, the face is completely polished and made slightly convexed. It's the main purpose to avoid the damage of work while hammering.

 

Peen:

  It is placed at the opposite end of the face and it also hardens like the face. This peen is commonly used for hitting and straightening workpieces. In this peens also various types also available like ball peen, cross peen, and straight peen.


Cheek: 

It is exactly placed in the middle portion of the hammerhead.


Eye hole:

  It is shaped in elliptical  It is located in the middle of the hammer for fixing the handle rigidly.


Handle: 

It is generally made up of wood but some hammers are made up of also metal. This handle are made of elliptical in shape because it is fixed in the eyehole to hold the hammer.


Specifications:

 Hammers are commonly specified by its weight and shape of peens.

The weight if the hammer varies from 1-1.5 kg .


Types of hammers:

#1 Ball peen hammer:

Ball peen hammer, hammers, striking tools


    These hammers divide into two parts 1. Ball, 2. Peen The ball-peen hammer has a flat face, It is generally used for normal works but ball-ended paRt of the hammer is used only for revisiting. This hammer's weight varies from nearly 0.1-1.2 kgs.

#2 Cross peen hammer

      It is also similar to a ball-peen hammer, but not the shape of the peen. This hammer is used for riveting, bending, and stretching metals. this hammer weight varies from 0.2-1kg.


#3. Soft hammers:

      These hammers are used to less damaging the surface of workpieces. The other name of soft hammer called mallet used.


#4.straight peen hammer:

     This hammer is used for swaging, riveting, in restricted places. It is similar to a cross peen hammer.


Applications of striking tools

 1) Used in carpentry works and forging.

2) these tools are also applicable for blacksmiths making some ornamental works.
