Importance of Conventional and Non  conventional frame of automobile

What is a frame?

The frame is the main part of the chassis.  it is a structural component formed by two long side members welded or riveted with some cross members. It is under the body of the chassis

On which remaining parts of the chassis are mounted. The frame is made up of steel, It is available in different types of sections like box type, tubular, and channel section.

Box section:  It is used for only cross members of the frame only and it resists bending and torsional forces.

Channel section: It is used only for long members of the frame, It will be resist bending forces.

Tubular section: This type of section will be used for only three-wheelers.It should resist torsional forces.

Types of vehicle frame constructions

The frames will be constructed in three different ways

. Conventional frame construction: It has a separate frame that will be used to mount the components.

.Frameless construction: It has no separate frame used to mount the components.

..Semi integral frame construction:

In this frame construction has half-frame will be used to mount the components like engine, gearbox, and suspension e.t.c this type of frame construction a part of load carried by the frame and remaining load is. transferred to the body.

What is a Conventional frame Construction and how it works?

The construction of the frame which supports the engine, transmission system is called Conventional frame construction. The complete frame is fabricated by using a welding process, but the body joined to the mounting brackets of the frame is blots and nuts or by the welding process. In this frame, the body is completely isolated to the frame.

In this frame, the cross members are made with box-section or tubular section it will increase the torsional strength of the frame. This type of frame applicable for only Heavy vehicles and Trucks.

Advantages of Conventional Construction.

  1.  This frame construction simple and easy to construct and modified also.
  2. It is more durable.
  3. Easy to dismantle and make repairs.

Disadvantages.

  1.     consumption of fuel is high.

  1.  Used for heavy vehicles only.
  2. Production cost also too high.
  3. Too much Maintaining.

Frameless Construction

Frame without Chassis,Non conventional frame,,car without body
Frameless body image.

In this type of frame construction, the components of the chassis are attached to the body of the vehicle. The chassis overall body is made of mild steel, it will be assembled by the welding process.

It has consisted of several subframes are used for the mounting of front and rear suspension systems.

This type of frameless construction is used for light commercial vechiles.

Advantages of Frameless construction.

  1.  Less weight and fuel consumption are low.
  2.  The stability of the vehicle is high.
  3.  The production cost of the vehicle also less.

 Dis advantages.

  1. This type of frame has less durability.
  2. Complicate to dismantle and repair.
  3. The making of frames is also so complicated
